Think juggernaut of massive proportions. Think big, really
big. Fast, really fast. This server is our pride and joy --
it's the reason we wake up in the morning to build servers and
plug them in. The server for even the most daunting jobs, the
mantle-piece of any server farm. Will crush any server in its
path. If your jaw doesn't drop after checking this servers specs,
your jaw better be wired shut!
It has a FSB of 800Mhz and esentially provides two virtual CPUs
using a scoreboard hardware methodology quite similar to what
Seymore Cray developed for the Cyber systems in the 1970s.
What it means is the OS thinks it's a dual system, and it performs
like a dual system. A P4 2.4ghz hypertread does a multitasking
workload about 190% as fast as a non hyperthread. Of course,
the faster frontside bus, 800mhz instead of 400mhz or 533mhz
is also a factor. |
